Eleven More People Arrested in Connection with Attempted Murder of Elmar Veliyev
Baku / 09.07.18 / Turan: Eleven more people were arrested on the case of attempted assassination of the head of the Ganja City Executive Power Elmar Veliyev. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Among them are seven residents of Ganja - Jafar Zalov, Muraz Aliyev, Hamlet Abdullayev, Rauf Hasanov, Ramil Pashayev, Jeyhun Salahov and Rasim Mustafayev.
Residents of the Terter region - Firudin Zeynalov, Yevlakh - Mahir Azizov, Baku - Fikrat Alakbarov, Neftchala District - Elmir Zahidov - were also arrested.
On July 3, a native of Ganja, Russian citizen Yunis Safarov, shot the chief executive of Ganja Elmar Veliyev and his bodyguard Gasym Ashbazov.
Law enforcement authorities qualified the armed attack as a terrorist act committed on religious grounds. According to the investigation, Safarov is an adherent of a radical religious group.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not specify the relations between the 11 arrested and Safarov, or on what articles they are accused. -06D--
