Employee of Azadlig Awarded International Prize
The imprisoned columnist of the newspaper Azadlig Seymour Hazy has been awarded the prestigious Free Media Prize of the Norwegian organization in defense of freedom of speech Fritt Ord.
Instead of him at the ceremony in Tbilisi the award was received by his mother Gyzgala Haziyeva and his wife Nigar Hazy last Saturday.
During the ceremony a letter from the journalist was read. He wrote that his only fault, as well as the only fault of other detained journalists, is just that they tell the truth.
Recall that Hazy was arrested in August 2014 on charges of hooliganism and sentenced to 5 years in prison. However, the true reason for his arrest was his sharp criticism of government policies. Amnesty International has recognized him a prisoner of conscience. -06D--
