EU Delegation announces a new edition of the EuroSchool
Baku/21.06.22/Turan: From 2-4 August, the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan will organize a new edition of the EuroSchool in one of the regions of Azerbaijan. In total, 18 young motivated people aged 18 -25 from all over the country will be selected to take part in the EuroSchool, supported by the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan and the EU Neighbours East communication project.
During the three-day event the participants with international trainers will engage in a number of interactive sessions to learn more about the EU, its history, fundamental principles and values, issues relating to energy and the environment, European Neighbourhood Policy, the Eastern Partnership initiative, and EU-Azerbaijan relations. They will also hear about education and other opportunities available for young people in Europe. Along with the educational part of the programme, the participants will also join excursions within the region. Young people from the European Union countries will also join the event and share their knowledge and experience with their peers in Azerbaijan.
Transportation from Baku to the region and back, meals and accommodation will be covered by the EU Delegation.
Participants will be selected on the basis of their CV and Motivation Letters in English, covering also the topic "EU-Azerbaijan – stronger together", which should be sent to Delegation-Azerbaijan@eeas.europa.eu by 26 June 2022. The event is the fifth EU-focused summer school organised in Azerbaijan. It is supported in the framework of the ‘Young European Ambassadors’ network, an EU initiative launched in 2016 covering the EU Member States and Eastern partnership countries. President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.

An operation at Istanbul Airport has revealed an incident that could strain diplomatic relations. Kahraman Shamil oglu Mammadov, alleged to be an Azerbaijani military attaché, was caught with 70 kilograms of gold. On a brisk November evening, the residents of Baku gathered along the waterfront of the Caspian Sea, stunned by what appeared to be the washed-up body of a colossal whale. At 16 meters long, the creature’s seemingly lifeless form and pungent odor left many convinced they were witnessing an ecological tragedy. By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
