FC Gabala Joins Playoffs at Europa League
The football club Gabala, winning the third match of the qualifying round of the Europa League with Cyprus Apollo in Baku with the score 1:0, for the first time in its history came into the playoffs of the competition.
A week ago, in Cyprus the first match between these two teams ended in a draw 1:1.
In Baku the first half of the match was held with full advantage of the hosts.
Gabala created a number of scoring chances at the gates of the guests, but at the last moment the Azerbaijani football players lacked precision.
In the second half it was mostly an equal fight.
Nevertheless, Gabala managed to win a victory. After 80 minutes, interrupting one of the attacks of the hosts, the guests played a hand in the penalty area and the referee, Portuguese Gomes did not hesitate a penalty. The 11-meter was successfully kicked by Javid Huseynov. Incidentally, in the first match he also equalized the score from a penalty.
Despite desperate attempts of Apollo to equalize the score, Gabala managed to keep the winning score.
But Baku Inter failed to get into the playoffs. On August 6 Inter played a draw in Baku with the famous Athletic from Bilbao 0:0. This result suited the guests, which won with a score of 2:0 in Spain a week ago.
For the first time in the playoffs of the Europa League Azerbaijan will be represented by two teams.
In addition to Gabala Agdam Karabakh will also play in the playoffs. This team played in the Champions League, but in the third qualifying round it could not pass the Scottish Celtic. According to the rules of the competition, Garabagh got the right to participate in the play-offs of the Europa League, which is the second most important club competition in Europe. -06D--

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
