Forum "Stop violence against women"
On Monday the NGO "Women's Society for Regional Development" held a forum at which presented the results of the campaign "Stop Violence against Women". The action was part of the 16-day international campaign against gender-based violence, which took place around the world from November 25 to December 10.
The campaign is the result of cooperation organization with the Asian Development Bank, the Foundation Kvinna til Kvinna, the regional organization of the Black Sea of the German Marshall Fund.
The head of the "Women's Society for Regional Development" Shahla Ismail presented not only the results of the campaign, but also the 12-year period of activity of the NGOs in the field of women's rights and gender equality.
The forum participants exchanged views on the situation on the issue of violence against women; they
were unanimous on the need to strengthen advocacy in this area and especially among men.
According to statistics for the first 9 months of 2016 , in Azerbaijan were registered 4552 crimes against women. Every eighth crime was committed on domestic violence, i.e. family conflicts. For these crimes and misdemeanors more than 2 000 people were brought to justice.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
