French-Azerbaijan University Opened in Baku

Baku / 19.09.16 / Turan: The beginning of the school year was marked by the opening of the French-Azerbaijan University (UFAZ) in Baku, an agreement on the creation of which was achieved in September 2014 at a meeting of the two countries.

The opening ceremony of the new university was held with the participation of the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan, Mikail Jabbarov, the French Ambassador in Baku, Aurelie Bouchez, the head of the mission for European and International Affairs and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of France, Marian Brunhof, and the Vice President for International Relations of the University of Strasbourg, Francis Kern.

UFAZ operates in a renovated building of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry (ASUOI), the press release from the French Embassy in Baku says.

The training is arranged on four biennial programs of higher education bachelor's degree. In particular, there are groups on the specialties Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Geophysical Engineering (in all these three fields the University of Strasbourg and ASUOI provide the training), and Oil and Gas Engineering (University of Rennes 1 and ASUOI).

In the first academic year through competitive examinations conducted by the University of Strasbourg 143 entrants from the 310 candidates were accepted.

This unique collaboration in the field of education indicates a high level of current relations between the two countries, the French Embassy noted. -06D--
