Giyas Ibrahimov made an action by paying a court fine
Baku/15.05.19/Turan: NİDA activist Giyas Ibrahimov paid the fine imposed by the court on him with small coins.
Ibrahimov said, that five days ago, he received a letter from the Execution and Probation department of the Nizami district to pay the fine 73 manat imposed by the Baku Serious Crimes Court.
The sanction was imposed in connection with the verdict of the Baku Serious Crimes Court on October 25, 2016, depriving Ibrahimov of his liberty on charges of drug trafficking. Despite the fact that Ibrahimov considers the verdict illegal, he nevertheless decided to pay for the examination costs.
"The verdict against me is illegal and fabricated. This also is applied to the part of the court decision on the payment of the costs of the examination. Drugs were thrown to our home, and we were charged with the costs of the examination. But I decided to pay by turning it into a public action, and pay the fine in coins of 1, 3 and 5 gepik so that they can work hard counting them," Ibrahimov said.
According to him, over two days, 78 AZN 40 kopecks were collected in his support in small coins.
"The remaining coins will be used in other "coin actions" to pay for other illegal fines," Ibrahimov said.
He and Bayram Mammadov were arrested on May 10, 2016 after they wrote political slogans on the monument to Heydar Aliyev. Both were sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of drug trafficking.
However, activists were released after pardon in March of this year. -06D--
