By the decree of the Head of State, Head of the Border Service of Azerbaijan Elchin Guliyev has been awarded the rank of Colonel General.
Two of his deputies, Asif Jabrayilov and Rashad Sadigov, got promoted to Lieutenant General.
Assigning the titles was confined to the professional holiday - Day of the Border Guards of the country.

In July 2024, the State Border Service detained 22 people for violating the state border. Of these, 13 are citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 of Pakistan, 2 of Iran, 2 of Morocco, 1 of Türkiye, and 1 of Bangladesh. 11 people were detained while trying to cross the state border with fake stamps and passports, documents belonging to other persons. 862 people were detained for violating the rules of the border regime.
