Human rights defenders - this is not a pardon
The human rights activists are disappointed by the presidential decree of pardon. "We are disappointed and confused. We are at a loss. This is a demonstrative step. This is bad for everyone," said the head of the Azerbaijan National Committee of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Arzu Abdullayeva, commenting on the act of pardon, where there are no political prisoners. "This is not an order to pardon , this is a deception of society," said Elshan Hasanov, the head of the Center for Monitoring of Political Prisoners.
Contrary to the expectations of local and international human rights organizations, despite the idea of a joint working group of the list of 22 activists and journalists with a view to their release, it did not happen.
"The thieves, drug addicts, criminals are released, but the convicted for political reasons remained in prison. It absolutely cannot be considered a pardon," said Hasanov.-06D--
