Baku / 07.12.17 / Turan: Ilgar Mammadov does not intend to apply for parole, told Fuad Agayev, the lawyer of the leader of the REAL movement, commenting on today's statements of the presidential aide on foreign policy of Novruz Mammadov. The latter stated to the pro-government media that I. Mamedov may, in connection with the expiration of two-thirds of the sentence, ask for parole.

On December 5, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe launched a trial procedure against Azerbaijan due to the refusal to comply with the decisions of the Strasbourg Court on the release of Ilgar Mammadov.
Further, presidential assistant Novruz Mammadov said he stated about the personal bias of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Turburn Jagland, who allegedly wants to "punish" Azerbaijan using the Ilgar Mammadov case. Continuing his "deep" reasoning, Novruz Mammadov called the European Union and the Council of Europe a "Christian club".
The reason for this Mammadov considers the refusal of the Council of Europe to condemn Armenia for the occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan.
Mammadov sees this as a manifestation of Islamophobia. "Even countries that try to present themselves at the bilateral talks as friendly, act differently in the voting," Mammadov complained. -06D-
