In Baku, 13-year-old teenager became mother
Baku/07.09.22/Turan: In Baku, a 13-year-old girl gave birth to a child at home. This was announced by the chairman of the Association for Protection of Children's Rights of Azerbaijan Kamala Aghazadeh.
According to her, the woman in labor was placed in the hospital.
"The teenager's mother asked to place her in a shelter. According to her, the child was born as a result of rape," Aghazadeh said.
The association for management of territorial medical units told Turan that on September 6, at 13.30, a call about childbirth at home in the Sabunchi district was received at the Baku ambulance and emergency medical care station.
"The ambulance crew provided assistance to a woman in labor born in 2009, after which the mother and the newborn boy were hospitalized at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology," the department said.
At present, the condition of the child and mother is stable, treatment is ongoing in the medical institution. The weight of the newborn is 3,600 grams.
The head of the press service of the Interior Ministry, Elshad Hajiyev noted that in connection with this fact, the Sabunchi police department and the district prosecutor's office are conducting an investigation.
The public will be informed about the details, Hajiyev said.
The State Committee for Family, Women and Child Affairs reported that representatives of the department and a psychologist visited the woman in labor and asked about her health condition.
The further fate of the young mother and her child have been taken under the control of the State Committee and relevant structures and appropriate measures are being taken. -16D06-
