Incident at the trial in the "Ganja Case"
Baku / 02.05.19 / Turan: An incident happened today in the Sabunchu court trial in the case of group of defendants in the Ganja events.
According to human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev, the accused Shahin Verdiyev, who a few days ago suffered from heart attack , was taken to the court from the Ministry of Justice hospital. This caused outrage of the other defendants and their relatives. They demanded that Judge Dadash Imanov suspend the process, which the request was ignored.
"We ourselves have seen that Sahin"s was skewed, he was very pale, and could not move," said the human rights activist.
One of the defendants, Asif Javadov, fainted from suffering stress. After that, the trial was stopped and an ambulance was called.
Another defendant shouted that in protest against this injustice, he would commit suicide.
* On July 3, 2018, in Ganja, an attempt was made on the life of the head of the city, Elmar Veliyev. A native of Ganja, Younis Safarov wounded him and the head of the city bodyguard.
After that, on social networks, a protest rally was scheduled for July 10 in front of the Ganja administration against Veliyev.
On July 10, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the unrest in Ganja, during which two police officers were killed. Following this, mass arrests among believers began. In total, about 60 people were brought to criminal responsibility. Another six people were killed while providing armed resistance.
In early March, two groups of the accused 14 people who were sentenced to various terms ranging from 5 to 8 years in prison on charges of participating in mass riots and using violence against police officers. 21C-
