Investigation says nothing about the Heydar Aliyev Center Fire
The Investigation Department for Serious Crimes under the General Prosecutor Office continues investigation into the July 20 fire, at the Heydar Aliyev Center. A lawsuit was filed after the Article 225.2 (violation of fire safety rules, which cause a serious crime.)
However, law enforcement authorities did not make comments on the case, which has aroused a great public response. Thus, answering the question from a Turan correspondent, on the course of the investigation. The press service of the General Prosecutor Office said, "reports on the investigation are not provided yet."
Three days after the fire, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office issued an official message, which said the cause of the fire was a fire safety violation during welding.
Technical expertise based on the evidence find: the employees of Dia Holding, the main contractor, the company Treysen, a subcontractor, engineer Kai Umit Rushen Ihsan oglu and contractor Simsek Vedat Halit oglu, guilty of the fire. They violated safety regulations, and gave illegal instructions to welder Karahan Omar Sharif Omar oglu, to keep welding without taking measures to prevent a fire. As a result, around 11:30 a fire began in the ceiling. All three persons were arrested.
The Prosecutor Office said measures are being taken to identify persons responsible for fire safety.
