Islamist to Spend Six Months in the Gobustan Prison

Garadagh District Judge Fuad Hasanov made a decision to transfer the Islamist Abgyul Suleimanov to the closed Gobustan prison. There he will conduct six months of his 11 year sentence, the attorney Javad Javadli told Turan.

According to him, the decision was made on the basis of the representation of Prison Number 13, which based its appeal that Sulejmanov violated discipline and conducted religious propaganda among the prisoners.

However, the lawyer said that since February Suleimanov was transferred several times into the cooler and did not conduct any propaganda. Therefore, his transfer into the most severe prison of the country has no reason.

The lawyer visited the convicted on April 25, and informed him of the decision of the court.

The decision will be appealed, the lawyer said.

Recall that Abgyul Suleymanov was sentenced to 11 years in prison in August 2012. He was arrested in August 2011 on charges of inciting national, racial and religious hatred, and public order offenses. His arrest was made in the framework of the so-called Jaafari case.

This group maintained ties with the Iranian Cultural Center in Baku. -16D-
