It is necessary to inform the public in advance about the restoration work in Icheri Sheher - M. Aliyev
Baku/04.27.19/Turan: On April 26, First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized herself with the restoration work in the Icheri Sheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve. Asker Alakbarov, the head of the reserve, assured that the repair and restoration work being carried out would not only harm the walls, but would not damage their appearance, Icheri Sheher"s appearance, and they would retain their former appearance.
"Icheri Sheher is a very dear and expensive place for the whole of Azerbaijan, for all our citizens. This is the heart of our Baku, our native Baku. This is indeed a very valuable historical and cultural monument. I remember that at one time Icheri Sheher was included on the UNESCO blacklist, since no restoration, work was carried out here. There have been actions contrary to all these laws. At that time, precisely on the instructions of the President, a lot of work, restoration and reconstruction was done in Icheri Sheher. Taking into account the wishes of residents, businessmen, the state with great attention treated every building, every stone of Icheri Sheher," Aliyeva said. Naturally, she continued, "not one stone of the fortress walls should suffer, and this will never happen." She called it a lie to spread information in social networks about the destruction of the walls.
Aliyeva stressed, "There is no new construction." "There is no danger to historical and cultural monuments. On the contrary, all these steps are aimed at protecting them," Aliyeva said. At the same time, she noted that a recently discovered historical monument, a bathhouse, is currently being restored. Aliyeva stressed that all restoration work should be carried out taking into account the preservation of historical traditions.
In order to avoid misunderstanding, different interpretations, the spread of misinformation, and the public should be widely and thoroughly informed about the planned work, the first vice president said. "If Icheri Sheher provides for the implementation of various restoration and repair works, then we must, before proceeding with them, widely inform the public," said Aliyeva. -06D--
