Journalist to Challenge Ban on Her Leaving Azerbaijan in Court
The journalist Khadija Ismayilova addressed the court in connection with the ban on her leaving the country.
On her Facebook page, she wrote that the lawsuit was filed in the Binagadi court and was taken into consideration. The court session is scheduled for June 28 at 17:00.
The journalist writes she has received invitations from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the US Congress, and the OSCE conference on media issues. However, the ban on her leaving the country makes it impossible to participate.
Recall that the ban on leaving the country was imposed on Ismayilova on 5 December 2014. Later, she was sentenced to seven and a half years on trumped-up charges of tax evasion and illegal entrepreneurship.
On May 25, 2016 Ismayilova was released on parole on probation for 5 years.
Last month, the court allowed another former political prisoner Intigam Aliyev to travel abroad for 10 days. -16D-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
