Journalists demand to punish police officers
Baku / 14.02.20 / Turan: A group of journalists subjected to police violence when covering a protest rally on February 11 in front of the CEC, appealed to the prosecutor general.
They complain of violence by police officers, resulting in bodily harm to some journalists.
The applicants are requesting criminal prosecution for obstructing the lawful activities of journalists.
Earlier, another journalist, a veteran of the Karabakh war Mustafa Hajibeyli, filed a complaint with the Binagadi prosecutor’s office.
According to the Reporters without Borders organization, in addition to Hajibeyli, the Meydan TV reporter Sevinj Vagifgyzy, who was hit in the face and injured her hand, was injured during the rally. Voice of America journalists Ulviya Guliyeva and Aigon Rashidova, Radio Azadlig correspondent Ayten Mammadova, independent journalists Ainur Elgyunesh and Aytaj Taptyg were grossly detained and subjected to physical pressure. They were all thrown onto the bus, taken to the outskirts of the city and released around midnight away from the highway. Three of their colleagues, including investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova, who followed the bus in a taxi, were also detained and beaten. –06D--

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
