June 12, the Supreme Court will consider complaints by Hilal Mamedov
The Supreme Court of Azerbaijan appointed on June 12 consideration of the appeal from the chief editor of Tolyshi Sado Hilal Mamedov sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.
The complaint will be considered in the division of criminal cases under the chairmanship of Inglab Nasirov at 11:00.
At the same time, the college for administrative and economic affairs chaired by Kamaleddin Badalov will consider another cassation from Mamedov on the violation of the presumption of innocence on the part of the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General. Turan was told by the committee to protect the rights of Mamedov.
The lawyer Ramiz Mamedov, commenting the simultaneous consideration of the two complaints for Turan, said: "A man cannot physically be present simultaneously at two meetings. Thus, he loses the opportunity of personal participation in the consideration of his complaint," said the lawyer.
According to him, the appeal raises a question of termination of the criminal proceedings against Mamedov because of the numerous procedural irregularities in the investigation of the criminal case, which entails his release.
* Hilal Mamedov was arrested on June 21, 2012. The Baku Court of Grave Crimes on September 27, 2013 sentenced him to five years in prison, finding him guilty of treason, inciting ethnic hatred and drug trafficking.
Mamedov denied the allegations and believes that he is being persecuted for political reasons.
Amnesty International declared him a "prisoner of conscience." -06D -
