Keeping the oppositionist in detention without trial delayed

Advisor to the Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Mamed Ibrahim  has been detained without trial for more than 48 hours, which is against the law, according to defense.

Ibrahim was arrested on September 30th by Narimanov District Police Office as a suspect under the Article 221.1 (hooliganism). On October 1, he was charged under this Article providing for up to 1 year imprisonment. On October 2 Narimanov District Police Office of Narimanov district submitted to the court an idea on the arrest of Ibrahim.

The  lawyer Yalcin Imanov, the trial began  at about 15:00 , and after 40 minutes, the court went for a meeting. "But what's interesting that in the conference room with Judge Mazahir Sadigov was and the head of the investigative department of Narimanov district police office Fakhraddin Shiraliyev," said the lawyer.

At around 21.00 a lawyer to protest against the lack of respect of the court to the lawyer and the accused left the court building. Half an hour later it was announced that the meeting  was postponed to October 3 at 15.00.

Imanov believes that "no reason for postponement the trial." On the other hand, on 2 October at 23.00 will expire 48-hour period of Ibrahim's detention without a court order. Further content of Ibrahim in custody illegally, said the lawyer.-06B--
