Baku / 10.07.17 / Turan: Attorney Elchin Sadigov appealed to Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov on July 10 with a request to investigate the complaints on tortures of Giyas ibrahimov, who is serving his term in jail No. 2. The lawyer told Radio Azadlig that the appeal contains a request to bring to justice those who were guilty of torturing a young activist. "Before the Prosecutor General's Office, a petition was raised to remove images of the days on which torture was committed in jail No.2; the records confirm the fact of torture of Giyas Ibrahimov," said the lawyer. With a similar request, the lawyer also addressed to the Ombudswoman Elmira Suleymanova.
At the end of last week, the mother of Giyas Ibrahimov said her son was tortured in jail No. 2. However, the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice denies this.
Following this, lawyer Giyas Ibrahimov visited him in the jail, and then stated that his client was in danger. The lawyer gave the public a letter from his client about torture. The letter also said that Giyas was put in a punishment cell for 15 days, and then he was beaten by the deputy head of the operative part of the jail, Shakir Ganiyev.
Today, on July 10, employee of the Ombudsman's Office, Rashid Rumzadeh, said that he was interested in the issue of Giyas Ibrahimov.
