Lawyer: health of Leyla Yunus deteriorates
Health of the arrested human rights activist Leyla Yunus has sharply deteriorated, according to her lawyer Elchin Gambarov. According to him, she is suffering from disintegration of liver, a serious pressure drop and breakdown as a result of chronic malnutrition. Since the arrest Yunus lost 10 kg of weight.
The lawyer Ramiz Mammadov made a formal request to jail for information on the results of tests taken from her, but the leadership of the detention center refused to register the request, which is a direct violation of the law, the lawyer said.
Leyla Yunus suffers from severe diabetes, and after her arrest in July of this year, she has not been provided appropriate treatment. Her health is deteriorating in prison on a background of moral and physical pressure in the cell.
Numerous appeals of the international community and local public authorities to provide the necessary assistance to human rights activist, are ignored by the authorities.
Leyla Yunus and her husband Arif are accused of espionage for Armenia, but the true cause of their persecution is actualization problem of political prisoners, and calls for international organizations to boycott the upcoming Baku European games. -02D-
