The lawyer Asabali Mustafayev is not given the possibility of meeting with the Chairman of the Sumgayit youth branch of PFPA Ruslan Garayev, who was sentenced to 20 days of administrative arrest.
According to the lawyer, he was forced to wait in front of Sumgayit police department more than an hour. "At first I was able to enter into the administration building, but then I was taken out and told that the head had not come yet. Perhaps there was a fact of torture - therefore, it is not allowed to meet. It seems they are waiting for the end of the working day. I called the service 102, but with no result. I called in the Ombudsman office, but there is no result either,"said the lawyer.
He claims that he is forced to take the necessary legal measures to ensure the meeting.
Ruslan Garayev was detained allegedly for resisting police. The Interior Ministry press service did not comment on that and did not reveal the real reason for the detention.
It is assumed that Garayev was arrested on July 21 evening. Already at night the Sumgait PFPA branch activists gathered in front of the Police Department, wishing to obtain information about Garayev’s fate. These very activists spread information about the detention.
Currently, more than 10 PFPA activists are under arrest. The party believes that the arrest is the result of a political order. The officials do not agree with the statement about the presence of political prisoners in Azerbaijan. -0-
