lgar Mammadov`s Health Deteriorated Dramatically
The health of Ilgar Mammadov, the imprisoned leader of the REAL movement, has sharply worsened. Turan IA obtained the information from the Executive Secretary of REAL, Natig Jafarli. According to him, Mammadov called from prison this morning and said he had serious pains in his back and muscles. It is painful for him not only to walk, but even to speak. Mammadov asked for an urgent examination by his foreign doctors. "We have already informed the Red Cross and other organizations about this," Jafarli said.
Ilgar Mammadov was arrested on February 4, 2013 on charges of organizing riots in the Ismayilli region. He was sentenced to 7 years. The European Court of Human Rights has recognized his arrest as politically motivated and decided that he should be released. -- 06C-
