Mamed Ibrahim appealed to the court for parole
Baku / 04.12.17 / Turan: Mamed Ibrahim, a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Mejlis of the Popular Front Party, applied to the court for parole on the half time, according to his son Turan Ibrahim.
According to him, Ibrahim submitted his application to the leadership of jail N 16, in which he is serving his sentence. It is expected that the application will be considered during December.
Ibrahim was arrested on September 30, 2015 on charges of hooliganism (221.1), a complaint filed by Mikayil Guliyev - a former member of the PFPA. Subsequently, this article was re-qualified for a heavier charge under Article 221.2.2 (hooliganism using an object used as a weapon). On march 15 the Narimanov court found Ibrahim guilty and sentenced him to 3 years in prison.
In connection with the departure of 1/3 of the term, Ibrahim has already applied to the court to mitigate the punishment and transfer him to a jail-settlement. However, on November 25, 2016, the Surakhani District Court rejected the petition.
Human rights organizations have recognized Ibrahim as a political prisoner. -06B -
