Nearly 7 million foreigners visited Georgia in 11 months
Tbilisi. / 04.12.17 / Turan: From January to November 2017, almost seven million foreigners visited Georgia, which is 18.4% more than the same period last year, said at the briefing on Monday the head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration Georgy Chogovadze.
According to the data of the first and second quarters of 2017, the income from foreign tourism amounted to 1.1 billion dollars, which is 26% or 225 million dollars more than last year.
Among tourists from Europe, the largest number of travelers from Britain is 39.7%, followed by Austria (+ 35.6%), the Netherlands (+ 32.7%), Spain (+ 30.5%), France + 29.7%) and Germany (+ 27.4%).
A significant increase in visitors in Georgia was recorded from Jordan (+ 327.2%), Saudi Arabia (+ 165.7%), Kuwait (+ 152.4%), Iran (+ 121.1%) India (+66.6 %), Uzbekistan (+ 57.9%), China (+ 53.2%) and the USA (+24.2).
Most often in 11 months of 2017, citizens of Azerbaijan visited Georgia (+ 10.9%). The top five also include Armenian citizens (+ 14.9%), Russia (+ 33.4%), Turkey (-3.2%) and Iran (+ 121.1%).
In November 2017, 524.1 thousand foreigners visited Georgia, which is + 14.1% more compared to the same period last year.
In November, most came from Armenia (+ 7.2%), Azerbaijan (+ 11.2%), Turkey (+ 6.8%), Russia (+ 35.2%) and Iran (+ 92.5%).
Special growth was also recorded from Iran (+ 92.5%), Israel (+ 42.3%), Belarus (+ 41.5%), India (+ 40.6%), Russia (+ 35.2%), USA (+ 19.3%), etc.
Income from foreign tourism, according to the second quarter of 2017, amounted to 658.7 million dollars, which is 143 million more compared to the same period last year, that is, by 27.8%.
The share of tourism in GDP in the second quarter of 2017 was 6.9%, which is + 12.2% more compared to the same period last year.-03D-
