Mammadli: there is no need for a new law on the Internet

The initiative of the new law regulating the activities of social networks, the Internet is wrong, said in an interview with Turan  expert in the field of media rights Alasgar Mammadov,  commenting on initiative MP Aflatun Amashov, the head of the Press Council,  on the need to adopt a law regulating the activities of Internet resources and social networks. According to Mammadli,  there is no need to adopt such a laws.

"If social networks allow calls for discrimination, the Criminal Code  has  enough articles  to  punish those responsible. In addition, the Criminal Code has recently been amended to establish responsibility just for libel and insults on the Internet and social networks. In general, online activities are regulated by the law on the mass media and other laws," Mammadov said. On the other hand, the virtual space is  beyond the borders of Azerbaijan and mechanisms of violators of the law, no overseas. Therefore, according to Mammadli, the holders of common sense should not stand bring to agenda of the parliament  such  bills.-05B-
