Means of achieving goals of Hamas and Israel are diametrically opposed
Baku/11.10.23/Turan: Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei voiced his support for the recent Hamas operation against Israel, justifying it by the long-standing violation of Palestinian rights by the Zionist regime. Speaking at a ceremony for graduating officers of the Armed Forces on Tuesday, Khamenei praised the creators of "Operation Al-Aqsa Storm" and expressed pride in the Palestinian youth involved.
"We kiss the forehead and kiss the hands of the intelligent and talented designers of operation Al-Aqsa Storm and the Palestinian youth and are proud of them. Those who engage in idle talk, claiming that the recent heroic feat was not performed by the Palestinians, are mistaken in calculations," Khamenei was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Khamenei went on to criticize attempts to whitewash Israeli actions and portray the regime as innocent, stating, "The Zionist regime, playing the role of victim, seeks to double the oppression of Palestinians, attack civilians, and kill Gazans. Let the leadership of the Zionist regime and their patrons remember that the genocide and mass murder of Gazans will fall on their heads with a terrible calamity."
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan also weighed in on the situation by publishing a blog entry in cyberspace, in which he discussed consultations with the Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Russia, and Kuwait. He stated, "I have assured my counterpart in Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, of Iran's readiness to send urgent medical and humanitarian aid, especially food and water, to Gaza in coordination with the Red Cross and the United Nations."
Meanwhile, Moscow has taken a different approach to the conflict, advocating for the creation of an independent Palestinian state as a means to achieve a settlement. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed this opinion during a meeting with Mohammed al-Sudani, the Prime Minister of Iraq, who was visiting Moscow on an official visit.
The human casualties on both sides of the conflict serve as a stark reminder of the gravity of the situation. According to official Israeli army spokesman Jonathan Conricus, 1,200 Israelis were killed. On October 7 alone, in a half-day attack, Hamas killed more than 1,000 Israelis, primarily women, children and the elderly.
On the contrary, during the five days of the Israeli army's retaliatory military actions against Hamas, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 950 people were killed and 5,000 wounded in the Gaza Strip. It is believed that most of the victims in Gaza are Hamas militants.
This stark disparity in casualty figures highlights the differences in the aims of Israel and Hamas in the conflict. While Hamas seeks to sow fear by destroying the lives of civilians, Israel seeks to eliminate Hamas by minimizing civilian casualties as much as possible.
In the midst of this conflict, it is important to remember that war is inherently inhumane. However, any manifestation of humanism and the commensurability of military force deserves the highest and laudable respect.--0-
