The role of Azerbaijan in the field of international dialogue, a decline in foreign investment, protests against artificially high prices, and problems with gas supply in the villages near Baku are the topics of today's media.
The Azerbaijan newspaper writes that Baku is discussing ways to resolve issues of concern to humanity. This is the 5th World Forum of Intercultural Dialogue held in Baku on May 2.
The author notes that Azerbaijan is a sample of a multinational society. The Forum was attended by representatives from more than 100 countries, as well as over 30 international organizations.
The website Azadliq.info writes that foreign investment has decreased by 68%.
The economist Neymat Aliyev believes that foreign investors are fleeing Azerbaijan, and the government"s reports differ from real ones. The expert notes that for 3 months of 2018, foreign investment amounted to 816 million dollars, and for the same period of 2019 - 519 million dollars.
The dynamics of the last five years shows a decline in foreign investment. The negative attitude of investors towards Azerbaijan cannot be changed by the fact that in the Doing Business report, Azerbaijan has been named the most reforming state in the past 10 years.
The website Modern.az writes about the artificially high prices, discussing the issue with the MP Vahid Ahmedov. He recalled that at the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on April 30, President Ilham Aliyev stated that it was unacceptable to artificially raise prices.
The MP notes that if an entrepreneur buys raw materials abroad for dollars, then the rise in price is explicable. But if the products manufactured in the country are becoming more expensive, this is not normal, the MP believes. The population is dissatisfied and in this regard, it is necessary to take measures, said Vahid Ahmedov.
The newspaper Yeni Musavat writes about the problem of gas supply to the villages of Baku. Nearly 150 residents of the Zabrat village have been suffering from a lack of gas for years. For this reason, the residents are forced to use wood for heating. They have repeatedly appealed to Azerigaz, asking for gas.
Representatives of Azerigaz claim that the Zabrat-1 and Zabrat-2 villages are gasified. The population is simply growing, houses are being built, and the residents should wait for the state program. -0-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
