Mehman Huseynov rejected the judges
Baku / 10.04.17 / Turan: On April 10, the Baku Court of Appeal examined the complaint of convicted blogger Mehman Huseynov against the court's decision of the first Sabail court, which dismissed the complaint of unlawful arrest and torture of the blogger in the police. During the identification of the person, the blogger again raised the issue of the illegality of depriving him of his identity card and the refusal of the Interior Ministry to issue him documents. However, the judges did not pay attention to this.
The lawyer of the blogger, Fuad Agayev, again stated the groundlessness of the arrest of Mehmun Huseynov, which has no analogues further in such an unjust judiciary system that exists in Azerbaijan. The lawyer also applied for filming video footage from the surveillance cameras during the detention of Huseynov and his presence in the police, as well as the summons to the court of the plaintiff - the chief of police of the 22nd branch of the Nasimi district. He also noted that the prosecution brought to court not documents, but some photocopies. On this basis, the lawyer called to stop the criminal case for lack of corpus delicti and release the blogger from detention.
The prosecutor Alirza Abilov opposed, and the court rejected the petition. In response, the defense wrote a statement on the refusal of the judges. After that, the trial was postponed until 4 pm on April 11, where a court decision on the complaint of lawyers will be announced. The process was attended by diplomats from the embassies of the United States, Britain, Norway and the European Union.
The blogger Mehman Huseynov was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment on charges of slandering the Nasimi police after he announced the torture. Earlier he was kidnapped in the center of the city by unknown people and woke up in the police, where he was beaten and tortured.-03-
