Baku/10.04.17/Turan: On April 10took place a ceremony of commemoration of the reconnaissance group of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, heroically lost in the combat mission in the Armenian rear on April 10, 1997 in the southern sector of the front, was held on the Alley of Honor. A reconnaissance group of eight people was sent to the rear of the enemy with a special task. The enemy caught scouts and tried to take their captivity. The group held a circular defense for two days and on the offer to surrender preferred death.
By that time, one of the members of the group - Aghil Ahmedov was seriously wounded and was unconscious. The remaining seven scouts blew themselves up with a grenade. The Armenians took the captivity of Aghil Ahmedov, whom he managed to exchange after 23 months.
Today, parents and close reconnaissance groups and their military comrades came together to mark the 20th anniversary of their death. The participants of the event, among them the deputies of the parliament, expressed a common opinion about the need to perpetuate the memory of the members of the group, to provide moral and material assistance to their parents and relatives. Also, a request was made to help Agil Ahmedov, who is disabled and in need of serious treatment. -26B-
