Meydan TV employee was not allowed to Georgia
Baku / 21.04.17 / Turan: Jamal Ali, an employee of Meydan TV, who lives abroad, was not allowed to enter Georgia. He was detained at the Tbilisi airport upon arrival from Berlin. Employees of the Customs Service of Georgia reported that a ban was imposed on his entry into the country. Turan reports that the incident took place on April 19. According to Jamal Ali, he was kept for hours in places of temporary detention at the airport. "They did not explain anything to me, they just said that they cannot let me into Georgia," he said. By morning, Jamal Ali had bought a ticket, and he was sent to Berlin. Jamal Ali assumes that he was not allowed to go to Georgia in connection with his professional activities. A few months ago he prepared a report about the churches of Tbilisi. The report read how SOCAR is delivering gas to the church. Two months after the report, an action took place in Tbilisi against Meydan TV. Jamal Ali has been to Tbilisi before, but he has never encountered obstacles, he suggests that this particular report could be the reason for the ban on entering the country. He believes that his right to free movement has been violated. Jamal Ali intends, through lawyers, to investigate the matter and achieve the restoration of his rights. To receive any comment at the Georgian Customs on this occasion failed. Jamal Ali left the country because of attacks and pressure on him of a political nature. In March 2012, he was an active participant in the rallies in Baku, while he was arrested. -0--

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
