Ministry of Health to Check Plastic Surgeons' Certificates
The certificates of plastic surgeons who have not submitted their documents to the Ministry of Health by January 31 will be annulled, the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan announced on January 27. According to the same source, a Special Inspection Commission has been created to determine the legal basis for the activities of plastic surgeons.
Surgeons must provide notarized copies of documents confirming the legality of their activities by January 31. These documents include basic higher medical education, all documents related to postgraduate training, an employment record book, a certificate allowing medical practice, and certification credentials.
The documents must be submitted personally to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Otherwise, their medical practice certificates will be revoked.
It is noteworthy that in recent months, the issue of many plastic surgeons using counterfeit certificates has been widely discussed in the media. Unofficial sources estimate that around 50 such individuals exist. There have also been reports of the arrest of Ministry of Health officials who issued certificates in exchange for bribes.
On January 12, one surgeon was arrested after a patient died due to complications following a nasal septum surgery.
