More than 5 tons of drugs were seized from illegal traffic in Azerbaijan in the first half of the year
Baku/29.08.23/Turan: In January-July 2023, law enforcement agencies investigated 6696 criminal cases related to drugs, the message of the State Commission of Azerbaijan on Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking. Of the crimes solved, 2335 are related to the illegal sale of drugs, 4112 - with their illegal acquisition and storage.
As a result, more than 5 tons of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized from illicit trafficking, including: 1,598 kg of heroin, 2,874 kg of marijuana, more than 221 kg of opium, etc. During the specified period, 40,068 methadone tablets, 7,703 capsules and 1,133 tablets of potent substances were seized. 165 facts related to the smuggling of drugs and psychotropic substances were revealed. 1837 crimes were committed by previously convicted persons.
The total value of seized drugs and psychotropic substances in January-July is estimated at more than 225 million manats at black market prices. ---0---
