Mudflows Block Baku-Shamakhy Highway
Baku / 02.06.17 / Turan: Last night, heavy rains caused mudflows in the mountains of the Greater Caucasus. A serious situation developed in the Gobustan district, where water and mud have flooded the motorway at the 75th km. This place, known as the Jeyrankechmez gorge, is blocked for traffic. The road and bridges have become impassable, and some of the vehicles are blocked by the mudslide.
According to local sources and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the bridge across the gorge is damaged, and work is underway to clear and restore the road.
Meanwhile, up to 500 cars are stuck on the road.
It should be noted that this route has been under repair by the authorities for almost 10 years. Initially, it underwent reconstruction for $ 250 million under the leadership of Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov. After that, the authorities decided to expand the road for another $ 250 million, and this work is still ongoing. -05B-

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
