Baku / 08.06.18 / Turan: The new Board of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and vice-presidents were elected at the meeting on June 8. According to the ANAS, academician Nargiz Pashayeva was elected vice-president.
She is the sister of the vice-president of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. Irada Huseynova became another vice-president of ANAS.
The previous vice-presidents of ANAS Isa Habibbeyli, Ibrahim Guliyev, Tofig Nagiyev, Dilgam Tagiyev were re-elected to this post.
At the annual meeting Academician Akif Alizpede was re-elected president of ANAS, which he has been heading since n 2013.
In general, at the general meeting, the activity for 2017 was satisfactorily assessed, the report of the President of ANAS was heard, and its five-year activity was discussed. --0--

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
