New Charge to Opposition Activist Two Days before Completion of His Prison Term?
Baku / 27.09.18 / Turan: Two days before the end of the prison sentence, the adviser to the Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Mamed Ibrahim, was imprisoned in a solitary confinement cell. Turan was informed about this by his son Turan Ibrahim on the evening of September 27.
According to him, his father was allegedly found a knife under his pillow. T. Ibrahim is sure that a provocation has been committed against his father.
Many opposition and civil activists on social networks express their fears that M. Ibrahim may be charged again with keeping prohibited items in the prison and appointed a new prison sentence, as was the case with ex-Health Minister Ali Insanov.
Turan IA has not managed to receive comments from the Penitentiary Service yet.
Mammad Ibrahim was arrested on September 30, 2015 and subsequently convicted under Article 221.2.2 (hooliganism with resistance to police) of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment. He is recognized as a political prisoner by human rights activists. -06D--
