"Our newspaper has been published since October 1999. Initially, we issued it in two languages - Russian and Azeri - Novoye Vremya and Yeni Zaman. But since 2004, due to financial problems, we had to stop the publication of the newspaper Yeni Zaman. Now our newspaper returns to the readers in the Azerbaijani language in the on-line version. In the future, we plan to launch also an on-line version of the paper in English," said the editor in chief Shakir Gabiloglu in the interview with Turan.
The newspaper Novoye Vremya is one of the few Azerbaijani independent publications in Russian, with objective news coverage of political and socio-economic life of the country. Especially interesting are its special thematic projects on social issues, human rights, rule of law, development of the judicial system, etc., carried out jointly with the institutions of civil society.
