Nationwide festivities on the occasion of Novruz holiday have begun today with the lighting of bonfires in the Maiden Tower in Baku. The fire lit the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Then the President and members of the government walked on the seaside boulevard, where they were greeted by folk characters Kosa and Kechal (bald). A Festive Fair, which presents the agricultural products of the 10 economic zones is at the boulevard; as well as performances of dance groups, samples of crafts are demonstrated, national sweets and so on.
Since 2010 the March 20 is celebrated as the International Day of Novruz. The traditional place of celebrations for many years is the main square in the historical part of the city - Icheri Sheher.-06D--

One Indian citizen was killed, and another was injured in an incident at a company in the Absheron district. The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reported the incident on January 13.
