O. Gyulalyev's Treatment in Istanbul Extended for another Ten Days
Baku / 10.12.19 / Turan: The term of treatment of human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev at Istanbul's American Hospital has been extended for another 10 days. Turan was informed about this by his wife Firuza Gyulalyeva.
According to the doctors, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation extended the financing of treatment at this clinic for another 10 days, she said.
Earlier, the Committee against Repression and Torture appealed to international organizations for help to treat the activist, since funding for his stay in the Istanbul clinic ended on December 9. International organizations responded to the appeal, expressing their willingness to provide assistance if the funding is terminated.
Recall that the well-known human rights activist was hit by a car in the center of Baku on October 29. He received a severe head injury leading to cerebral hemorrhage. A few hours later, he fell into a coma. On October 30, a neurosurgical operation was performed on him in Baku.
Turkish specialists who arrived on November 5 at the invitation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation recommended that he be taken to Turkey for treatment. On November 6, he was dispatched by AZAL’s special flight to Istanbul and placed in the Avrasia Clinic. On November 19, he was transferred to the American Hospital, where the next day he underwent another neurosurgical operation to remove fluid from his head.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation took all the expenses associated with Gyulalyev’s treatment on behalf of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva. -05B06-
