Organizers of European Games Unaware Why Bus Knocked Athletes Down
The investigation of the incident, when a bus in the Village of Athletes knocked down three Austrian athletes, has not yet been completed, the European Games Operating Officer Simon Clegg said at press conference in Baku on 13 June.
Members of the team in synchronized swimming were seriously injured on June 11. Two of them were immediately taken to Austria and one is in hospital in Baku.
"We are conducting an investigation of the incident and its results will be made public certainly. Talking about the causes of the incident is still premature," he said, declining to answer the question whether the bus driver was drunk. -02D-
