Orthodox Christians in Azerbaijan celebrate Easter
Baku / 16.04.17 / Turan: On 16 April six Orthodox churches in Azerbaijan celebrated the Feast of the Bright Resurrection, Easter.
Thousands of believers came to the night festive service. The main event took place in Baku in the Cathedral of Holy Myrrhbearers Women.
Here the Easter liturgy was held with the participation of the head of the Baku-Azerbaijan diocese - Archbishop Alexander, then the procession was held.
On this day, believers remember the resurrection from the dead Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion for the sins of all mankind.
On the eve of the holiday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the Orthodox Christian community with a congratulatory message. -0-
