Yesterday with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Water Sports Palace, next to the metro station Keroglu.
The complex is built in accordance with the decree of August 2012. At the project there has been allocated 5 million manats.
The project was developed by the South Korean company Securo Co. Ltd. The land allocated for the construction is 6 hectares. Construction is by the Spanish company Pujol Arguitectura.
Its leader Joaquim Pujol said that the palace will be built with three swimming pools. The first one will be 50 m long and 25 m wide, with the depth of 3 m. This is provided for competitions.
In the second pool there will be training and its parameters are not specified.
The length of the third pool for diving will be 25 m long, 20 m wide and 6 m deep.
The palace will be able to host 6,000 spectators at the same time. The total cost of the project is not reported.
Note that the NOC is planning to hold a competition in Aquatics of the First European Olympic Games to be held in Baku in the summer of 2015. -06D-

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. "Thanks to the urgent and necessary measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the spread of the fire to neighboring areas, including nearby residential buildings, has been prevented," the statement reads. Efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing.
