Peace project will bring mothers from Armenia and Azerbaijan together
Presentation of the project "losses at the line of contact", implemented by the Humanitarian Research Company, took place on Friday in the Caspian Plaza business center.
According to the head of this NGO, Avaz Hasanov, the main objective of the project is to use the peacemaking potential of relatives, and especially mothers of those killed or wounded at the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
A similar project is being implemented in Armenia, with a common goal - to prevent the senseless sacrifice.
The project will provide information to the public about 30-40 people who have been killed. Information will be posted on the website http://humanrights-az.org/.
Public meetings will be held, at which mothers will tell about their dead children, in an effort to promote peace.
Hasanov said that mothers in Bosnia and Herzegovina played a great role in the ending war in the former Yugoslavia. There are plans to invite women from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Azerbaijan, and to arrange their meetings with the mothers of martyrs.
At the same time, it is planned to organize a visit of Azerbaijani women to Srebrinitsa city, where there was a genocide. The project will also establish contacts between Armenian and Azerbaijani mothers who lost their children. The project is designed to continue for eight months, and is supported by the Embassy of Great Britain. -05C06-
