Police Prevent Musavat Conference in Zagatala

Baku / 26.05.19 / Turan: On Saturday, the police prevented the holding of the Musavat Party conference in the Zagatala region.

The event was to take place in the house of the father of the party"s leader Arif Hajili in the village of Tala, because Musavat has no office in the Zagatala district, as well as in other regions of the country, the head of the organization"s office, Gulaga Aslanli, told Turan.

According to him, about 20 police officers broke into the yard of Hajili"s house and stated that the meeting was not coordinated with the local authorities and therefore could not be held.

The police did not heed the explanations of the Musavatists about the lack of constitutionality and legality of the demands of the law enforcement officers.

As a result, the party conference at which it was supposed to elect delegates to the congress was prevented.

'They didn"t even allow us to stop for tea or eat in Zagatala ... The authorities are concerned even with a gathering of 20-25 people, for the society is becoming more active. On the other hand, the head of Musavat held high-level meetings in the United States," Aslanli said.

It was not possible to get comments from the law enforcement agencies of the Zagatala region or the Ministry of the Interior. -05B06-
