Press Review 12.07.17

The calls of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva to improve the situation of internally displaced persons, the high cost in the consumer market, the reasons for the lowering of prices for some food products, and the prices at the Shykh beach are the leading topics of today's press.

The Azerbaijan writes about the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva, which turns into a big charity movement. It is about the appeals of the First Vice-President to improve the living conditions of internally displaced people, voiced recently at a meeting, in which more than 20 construction companies and housing construction cooperatives operating in the Sabail district of the capital took part.

The Echo has published an article entitled Purchasing Power of Azerbaijani Population Fell by 18%. In the consumer market, supply exceeds demand. However, food prices do not fall, even though the purchasing power has decreased by 18%.

From the beginning of the year the situation has changed, and people are struggling to make ends meet. Revenues have fallen so much that there is nothing to save. According to official data, poverty in our country over the past year has grown by 1% - from 4.9 to 5.9%. This was stated in the report of the Cabinet of Ministers for the year 2016. Per capita spending on the purchase of food products in January-April amounted to 134.5 manat, and for non-food products it was 131.7 manat.

The Yeni Musavat is trying to investigate the reasons for the drop in prices for some foodstuffs with the expert Vugar Bayramov. Among them there are seasonal foods of local production, as well as imported agricultural products. For example, bananas have become cheaper. As another reason, the stability of AZN for over 5 months has been called.

The Bizim Yol explores the situation on the Shykh beach. The author of the article claims that almost all the beaches on Shykh, with the exception of two ownerless beaches, are paid. And the fee for them is from 3 to 30 manat per entry. For using the pool, you have to pay additional 5-10 manat. The entire services on the beach cost much to the vacationer.
