Prosecutor Asks to Condemn Head of Realliq.info Website
Baku / 07.06.12 / Turan: At the Baku Court of Grave Crimes at the trial of the case of the editor of the website Realliq.info Ikram Rahimov a state prosecutor spoke on June 7.
He offered to find Rahimov guilty under art. 182.2.2 (extortion by repeated threats) and sentence Rahimov to 6.5 years in prison.
Lawyer Elchin Sadigov asked for time to prepare for the final speech. The judge scheduled the next hearing on June 12th.
* Rahimov was detained on October 26, 2018, charged with extortion by threats and arrested by a court decision. Prior to his arrest, Rahimov said that he was being persecuted because of the criticism of Azerbaijani Presidential Aide Ali Hasanov. -06B-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
