Prosecutor General"s Office Offended by Charges in Rafiq Tagi Case

The Press Office of the Prosecutor General issued a denial of reports surrounding the criminal case of the death of writer and journalist Rafiq Tagi.

The report said that the information has been spread based on ignorance of the criminal case, and is not true.

The Press office says there were numerous investigative activities. In particular, in the case heard testimony from over 180 witnesses, and conducted almost 10 complex examinations. Doctors from the Center of Clinical Medicine and Emergency Department testified.

The Prosecutor General stated that videos from 43 locations in Rafiq Tagi's path were being analyzed. Four of the cameras were not working due to technical reasons. According to the forensic medical examination, the publicist's death was caused by a wound inflicted with a knife.

The investigative team was set up to examine the crime, considered various versions and implement appropriate measures, prosecutors wrote.

On November 19, 2011, an unknown person struck Tagi several times with a knife. This happened not far from his home. Three days later, the journalist died in hospital. -03D04-
