Public Group Appeals to Ilham Aliyev on Deteriorating Health of Intigam Aliyev
A large group of journalists, lawyers, intellectuals and public figures has appealed to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in connection with the case of the arrested human rights activist Intigam Aliyev.
In the address they indicated the educational activities of Aliyev, his achievements in training legal personnel, and in particular lawyers. However, it is indicated that Intigam Aliyev had serious health problems.
Medical examination confirmed the presence of a degenerative disc disease and spinal hernia. Also, Intigam Aliyev has constant cramping and he can hardly move.
The authors asked the head of state, taking into account the above, to assist in changing the measure of restraint and said they are willing to vouch for Intigam Aliyev.
The appeal was signed by 70 people.
Recall that Intigam Aliyev was arrested Aug. 8 on charges of illegal business, tax evasion and abuse of office. He denied all the charges. Amnesty International acknowledged Aliyev "prisoner of conscience". -06D-
