Red Cross Ready to Assist in Transfer of Azerbaijani Military Man’s Body to Azerbaijan
The International Committee of the Red Cross as a neutral intermediary stands ready to assist in the transfer of the body of an Azerbaijani soldier back to Azerbaijan. ArmInfo was told at the ICRC Yerevan office.
The office said that now the ICRC is in contact with the government authorities on both sides, and keeps the issue in the spotlight. “The ICRC continues confidential and bilateral dialogue with government authorities. Once the parties are ready to exchange, we are ready to provide mediation assistance,” said the ICRC Yerevan office.
Recall that on 29 December a battle took place on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. According to the Azerbaijani version, Armenians attempted sabotage, and on the Armenian version, it was the opposite. As a result, the body of an Azerbaijani soldier Chingiz Gurbanov was left on the Armenian side. The Armenian side refuses to extradite him. -02D-
