Religious activist Disappeared, family suspects arrest
Baku/01.09.23/Turan: The family of the member of the board of the Muslim Unity Movement Agali Yahyaev reported his disappearance. He stopped contacting since the evening of August 31, his wife Shakhana Yahyaeva told Turan.
"My husband went last night at 19:30 to pick up his mother from the country cottege. There is a maximum of an hour's journey. An hour later I called, he didn't answer. I called his mother, she said that Agali did not come to the cottege," the activist's wife said.
She tried to clarify her husband's fate to the police, but in vain. She believes that her husband was detained.
"That day, we were on our way to the Baku Serious Crimes Court for the trial of believers, we noticed surveillance of our car. Agali survived the fate of a political prisoner, and spent a long time in prison.
Yesterday it was the only time when he left the house alone and was immediately taken away. So he was being followed," Sh. Yahyaeva noted.
It was not possible to get comments from the press service of the Interior Ministry.
It ought to be noted that in 2017, Yahyaev was convicted in the so-called "Nardaran case" for 15 years of imprisonment. However, in March 2021, he was pardoned by the head of state.
In May 2022, he was arrested administratively for 30 days. -21D06-
